He pursued advanced studies in piano and composition at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla with Pilar Bilbao and Antonio J. Flores. Later, he moved to Vienna to study Composition and Orchestral Conducting at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, training under professors such as M. Jarrell, D. Schermann, W. Suppan, Y. Yuasa, and L. Hager. He specialized in Electroacoustic Composition with D. Kauffman at the Institut für Komposition, Elektroakustik und TonmeisterInnen-Ausbildung.
In 2006, he was a resident composer at the Mixed Reality Lab of the National University of Singapore. He holds a Ph.D. from the Universitat Politècnica de València. His main line of research focuses on extending acoustic sound through the expressive possibilities of electronic devices and human-computer interaction. His creative process is closely linked to gesture and the psychology of perception.
His works have been performed by ensembles and soloists such as Amores Grup de Percussió, Ensemble D’Arts, Plural Ensemble, A. Rosado, X. Giner, S. Tchirkov, X. Pestova, M. Bernat, D. Vassilakis, and D. Kientzy, among others; and featured at festivals including the International Image Festival (Colombia), Synthèse (Bourges), IDKA–FYLKINGEN (Sweden), Primavera Electroacústica in Havana, CIME 2011 (Greece), Musicacoustica (Beijing), Audio Art (Krakow), Forum Wallis (Switzerland), Florida International University, Center for the Arts Casa das Mudas (Madeira), Deptford Town Hall – University of London, and Akousma (Canada), among others.
He has been invited as a speaker at international festivals such as Architectures Contemporaines (Marseille, 2011), Sonoimágenes (Argentina, 2014), Tetramatyka (Ukraine, 2015), and Visiones Sonoras (Mexico, 2017).
He has received several awards, including the Arts Award from the Andalusian Youth Institute (2003), Miniaturas Electroacústicas–Confluencias (Huelva, 2008), XXII SGAE Foundation–CNDM Young Composers Award (Madrid, 2011), Musica Nova (Prague, Czech Republic, 2012), Luigi Russolo (Annecy, France, 2012), and Fundación Destellos (Argentina, 2013).
His works are published by Molenaar Edition, Impromptu Editores, Piles Editorial de Música, BabelScores, Tot per l’Aire Ed., and Brotons & Mercadal Edicions Musicals. Since 2016, he has been Professor of Music Technology at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo in Valencia, where he teaches Sonology and Electroacoustic Composition, and he is also a faculty member of the Master’s Degree in Musical Composition with New Technologies at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR).
