Born in Málaga in 1973, he began his musical studies at the age of nine, quickly distinguishing himself with top marks. In 1984 he won First Prize at the National Piano Competition “Marisa Montiel” in Linares (Jaén), completing his Elementary Studies with an Honor Award under Julia Casquero. He later earned First Prize at the “Gregorio Baudot” National Piano Competition in Ferrol (1990).
He received several distinctions at the “Marisa Montiel” Competition and, in 1992, won First Prize (solo piano) at the Málaga Young Performers Showcase, performing at the Teatro Cervantes. He finished his Professional Studies with a Special Mention and an Honor Award in Chamber Music under Horacio Socías. In 1994 he won First Prize again at the Málaga Young Performers Showcase (Higher Level), leading to a CD recording and a concert at the Teatro Cervantes.
He continued his advanced training with distinguished teachers such as G. Carmassi, György Sándor, Manuel Carra, Guillermo González, Ana Guijarro, Leonel Morales, Pilar Bilbao, and Almudena Cano. In 1993/94 he completed his higher piano studies with an Honor Distinction, under José Felipe Díaz Álvarez-Estrada.
A finalist in competitions in Granada, Melilla, Carlet, and Albacete (winning Fourth Prize in the latter two), he also obtained Third Prize at the National Piano Competition “Ciudad de Albacete” and participated in the young talents series of Juventudes Musicales of Seville. He later continued two years of advanced study with pianist Pilar Bilbao and collaborated as répétiteur with the Málaga Opera Choir.
He has served on juries for several national and international competitions and is regularly invited as a teacher in advanced training courses. As a soloist, he has performed with various orchestras under conductors including Octav Calleya, Dorian Wilson, Francisco de Gálvez, Juan Baeza, María del Mar Muñoz, and Alberto Navarrete.
President of the Málaga Pianistic Association and General Director of the Málaga International Piano Festival (FIPMA), he currently teaches at the Professional Conservatory “Manuel Carra” in Málaga. His students have received numerous national and international awards.
